Andrew Smith MP has praised the contribution of small businesses as part of Small Business Saturday.
Andrew Smith MP has praised the contribution of small businesses in Oxford East as part of the UK's first ever Small Business Saturday.
Small Business Saturday is a grass-roots campaign that encourages people to shop locally and support small businesses in the local community. It is set to be the biggest celebration of small businesses in the UK.
Andrew said: "Local people have told me how much they value the small and independent businesses that add so much to the character of our wonderful city. The best way to secure their future is to use them. I was delighted to take part in the UK's first Small Business Saturday.
"I spent the day visiting small businesses in Oxford East, speaking to the people who run and use them, and learning more about the fantastic service they provide."
As part of Small Business Saturday Andrew has also launched a new page on his website here where local small businesses can contact him about any issues or concerns that they have.
John Allan, Chairman of the Federation of Small Businesses, said: "The Federation of Small Businesses is delighted that Andrew Smith MP is backing the very first Small Business Saturday. The campaign is an excellent moment to celebrate the contribution that the smallest firms make to local communities and the national economy."
