Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust (OUH) is working towards becoming an NHS Foundation Trust.
This is a requirement of government policy. The Trust has provided a Q&A about its application for Foundation status here: http://www.ouh.nhs.uk/foundation-trust/faqs.aspx
If OUH is approved by the regulator Monitor, there is provision to give patients and staff the chance to become members or governors with a say over how the trust is run. As a foundation trust, OUH would also have more freedom from government to shape services. To secure foundation trust status, OUH has to show that it is well-led, the quality of its care meets the standard expected, and it consults local people to improve outcomes for patients.
As the MP for a constituency served by the trust (as well as the location of its principal facilities), I have been asked by Monitor about the views of constituents on OUH's application to become an NHS Foundation Trust.
If you have views you would like to feed into the process, please email them to me at Andrew.Smith.MP@gmail.com by 14 December, 2014, so that I can take them up with the foundation trust regulator Monitor.
