   MP visits flood relief works

Seeing the flood relief work at first hand Crane gets out loads of mud

Andrew Smith MP visited flood relief works at Hinksey Drain, near Redbridge.

Andrew said: "I wanted to see for myself the work that’s being done to help tackle the flooding risk. This is the sort of maintenance clearing the smaller watercourses which residents have long wanted to see, and it’s good the Environment Agency is getting on with it."

"In Oxford’s complex web of drainage channels all the work being done will make a difference, but it won’t prevent a major flood if there’s a massive deluge.  So I will continue to press not only for these minor works but for the major flood relief scheme which is also needed."
