Andrew supports Keep Your Cool on Black Friday camapign

Andrew is joining with other Labour MPs to support the Keep Your Cool on Black Friday campaign.

The movement is a part of the USDAW Freedom from Fear campaign, which is raising awareness of the abuse faced by shop staff over the festive season. USDAW have expressed concerns that November 27th will see increased incidents of violence and assaults against shop staff – and have added Keep Your Cool on Black Friday to their message.

Andrew believes it is a priority to keep staff safe. “Abuse should never be part of the job for shopworkers. Although we have seen a slight decline in violent incidents over the past two years, the overall number of assaults on staff is still unacceptably high. Staff have a right to feel safe in their work environment and to go about their day free from fear of violence or abuse. I am delighted to offer my support to USDAW and to their campaign.”

According to a survey conducted by USDAW, over 300 shopworkers are assaulted daily while doing their job, while many more are threatened and verbally abused. Please make a difference by respecting shop staff during the festive season.

You can help by signing up to the USDAW Thunderclap page, promoting the cause on Twitter or Facebook, and of course remembering to keep your cool on Black Friday.
