Andrew welcomes new students to Oxford

NEWS_POST20.jpgAndrew Smith MP joined OUSU President Tom Rutland for a tour of the Oxford University Freshers' Fair.

Tom said: "It's great to see so many new students interested in OUSU's campaigns and visiting stalls to join clubs and societies. I'm pleased Andrew asked to come along to show his support for our campaigns and talked with lots of new students to make them feel welcome in Oxford."

Andrew was updated on the progress of some of the Campaigns that OUSU run and visited some of the stalls for the 450 clubs and societies at the Fair. One of the clubs exhibiting at the Fair was Oxford University Labour Club, and Andrew met with many new students who were interested in politics and wanting to get involved to make a difference.

Andrew said: "It's great to see the freshers excited to be in Oxford, both here today and at Oxford Brookes, whose Freshers' Fair I visited just two weeks ago. I hope the 2013 freshers enjoy their time here in Oxford and do very well in their studies.

"I'm looking forward to seeing a large number of them getting involved in the Labour party, just as I have seen many freshers over the years campaigning locally to build a better, more progressive society."
