Andrew Smith MP visited the recently opened Highfield Unit to discuss political issues with students.
The new unit was opened to patients in February, following an invitation from the Oxfordshire Hospital School, which organises education of young people at Highfield Unit Oxford.
Andrew toured the £11m unit that provides specialist inpatient services for young people aged 11 to 18 with acute mental health needs, met clinical and teaching staff and then spoke with the young people during one of their classes.
The students asked wide-ranging questions including issues affecting young people with mental health difficulties, NHS funding, sports facilities and the environment.
Andrew said: "I had a really friendly discussion with the young people there. It was good to see the care and support they are getting too, and the high quality of the facilities."
