Andrew Smith MP has backed the campaign for effective action against tax dodging.
Recent estimates are that more than £13 trillion may be hidden away in tax havens. The tax revenue denied to poor countries -- around $160 billion a year -- is much more money that the global aid they receive.
Andrew met the campaign bus and local campaigners in Bonn Square. Andrew said: "It is really good to see the Christian Aid and Church Action campaign raising the profile of this vital issue.
"I share the concerns for tax justice which very many of my constituents have, and will continue to press this with the government and in the House of Commons. We need full transparency on where companies make their profits and the tax they pay, sharing of information on the massive financial flows into tax havens, and co-ordinated international action to stop these being a way of dodging tax."
