Andrew Smith MP joined local Labour councillors and campaigners in support of the Oxford Pride march and festival. The parade is one of the highlights of a ten-day long arts and cultural festival which celebrates Oxford's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgeneder community.
Andrew said: "I have supported equality throughout my time as an MP, including voting for the repeal of Section 28, equalisation of the age of consent, rights to equality in services, and the introduction of civil partnerships and equal marriage.
"As in previous years, the march and festival was well-received by Oxford residents. There is important ongoing work both to entrench equality, and to help those suffering oppression and discrimination in other parts of the world.
"I would like to thank everyone who helped organise Oxford Pride this year for putting on yet another excellent festival."
