Andrew Smith MP joined councillors to open City Council’s new housing development, Cardinal House.
The Cardinal House development in Littlemore consists of 20 new and 33 refurbished one and two bedrooms semi-sheltered housing flats each with their own kitchen and walk in showers. There are also excellent communal facilities, including two laundry rooms, a sun room, gardens and a lift and scooter stores.
These new properties were jointly funded by Oxford City Council and a grant from the last Labour government through the National Affordable Housing Programme.
Andrew said: “It’s great to be opening these high quality, and much needed, new council properties which are a brilliant development for Oxford. The facilities are world class and are a step in the right direction towards tackling our city’s chronic housing problems. I know only too well from my advice surgeries and calling round just how many local people are desperate for quality housing.”
