OxClean LaunchAndrew launched the 2010 OxClean spring clean in a special assembly at the Oxford Academy today.

He told students: “We are proud of our beautiful city and want to keep it looking as nice as it can.  We all have a responsibility not to drop litter in the first place, and to help clean it up when we can.”

The spring clean is an Oxford Civic Society event and involves local community groups, schools and businesses recruiting volunteers for two-hour litter-picking stints.

Andrew said: “I congratulate the OxClean organisers and all the many community groups and individuals who are doing their bit both in this Spring Clean and all year round, together with City Council staff and others who help keep Oxford clean.”

Andrew praised the students and cleaners at Oxford Academy for setting a good example in the cleanliness of the Academy site.

The spring clean will take place on Friday and Saturday March 5th and 6th
