Andrew Smith MP visited the area around Hinksey Park with local councillors Bob Price and Oscar Van Nooijen this morning as the flood waters rose. Water from the lake is rising, flooding houses in
Vicarage Lane and threatening the primary school, houses in Lake Street and the surrounding area. Everyone is working closely with the emergency services and the city council to ensure that sand
bags are provided and that vulnerable people are evacuated. Andrew said 'This is obviously a very worrying time and I really feel for those affected. I am keeping closely in touch with the
emergency response team and have already called in Parliament for the lessons to be learned.'
We went back in the afternoon, helping to unload sandbags and calling around streets to see where help was most needed.
