A great achievement by children and staff at Sandhills Primary School who became only the fourth school
in the whole country to be awarded the level 3 certificate for sustainable learning for their work in energy saving.
I had a great time looking round the schooland talking with pupils about their energy saving ideas as well as presenting the award at a special assembly.
Thanks to work by the children, advised by local energy consultants Atkins, the school has saved 20% on its electricity bills.
It is good to see the environmental awareness of the children, and their enthusiasm for putting it into action.
The school is planning to go a step further and move into energy generation with a wind turbine.
