I have consulted staff in my office about publication of information about staff pay in my office. The following are the bands within which staff are paid. The
minimum figure indicated corresponds with the House of Commons recommended minimum. The maximum is considerably lower that the House of Commons maximum.
In full-time equivalent terms, I employ 4 1/4 staff. Because a number work part-time, and because of arrangements for holiday cover, leave of absence and maternity leave, this involves at any
one time 8 or 9 individuals. Their salaries are within the following bands:
Office Supervision and Principal Caseworkers: £20,559 to £22,500
Caseworkers/Constituency/Parliamentary Assistants: £16,821 to £18,500
Support Assistants: £13,705 to £16,000
The salaries given are for full-time, based on a 37.5 hour week
These salaries are reasonable, indeed modest, in relation both to the maximum allowable (see below) and salary levels for comparable jobs in the Oxford area. All my staff do a first rate job
for constituents. Our office sent out more than 17,000 letters and e-mails on behalf of constituents last year. Over 80% rated the service "excellent" or "good".
